Fields of Interest in public affairs

خبرات العمل

I have worked as a journalist for the think tank Tactical Report, and with several INGO's and NGO's. These include the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (as an intern), Concern Worldwide (as a consultant), and currently with Beit el Baraka, one of the organizations leading disaster response efforts in Beirut. Besides my work with Beit el Baraka, I am working on a start up called Fundamentals for Life. I also host a podcast called Let's Talk Peace! It shines the spotlight on individuals and initiatives that are generating impact in their communities and it's purpose is to inspire youth to take more action towards peace.

Previous public affairs and volunteering contributions

My most important experience in public affairs that shaped my current personality is serving as a Global Classrooms Model United Nations and Model Arab League Trainer at the Lebanese American University. Through these leadership programs, I taught students about the United Nations (UN) and the Arab League (AL) respectively, delivered public speaking and debate trainings, and organized and chaired in the final conference through which students were selected for scholarships to the Lebanese American University. It was my first taste of empowering others and I learned so much about the world and myself. I discovered how wonderful it was to uplift others, to inspire them and give them tools that would help them grow. It was especially rewarding because while I was still a school student, I had participated in that same Model UN program as a delegate and it changed my life. Becoming a trainer in that very same program and teaching and mentoring students that came together from every corner- across every sectarian and socio-economic bubble- in Lebanon, was something magical. It taught me that when you give people the right experiences and opportunities, change happens.
